Adding touches of fall to celebrate the season has become more and more popular over the years than decorating for Halloween and Thanksgiving. Fall decor can take you from September (or late August for some of us) all the way through that weekend when the Christmas tree goes up. The benefit of fall decor is how most of it can transition from fall, to Halloween, to Thanksgiving. Sure, it's hard to not want all the pretty Halloween and Thanksgiving decor we see in the stores (ahem, starting in July), but that can get expensive. Instead, decorate for fall and you'll have the 3 of them covered.

Here are the elements I used when creating this affordable fall tray vignette for our living room coffee table....

Mini Fall Home Decor Tour 2015

Mini Fall Home Decor Tour 2015Even though we're just getting to the end of September, I feel really late in the game with posting my fall home tour. For those of us that do decorate our homes seasonally, the start of fall decorating starts as early as August! I know many of you like to hold on to summer as long as possible, but this girl loves the change of season here in the midwest and after all of the heat and humidity this past summer, I'm more than ready for fall.

My Gorgeous Holiday Home Decor Haul from Gordmans + Gift Card Giveaway!

I know it seems a little early, but yes, I already have some Christmas decor up! I was in Appleton last weekend and stopped in at one of my favorite stores for home decor - Gordmans! My decor style has drastically changed over the past few years and I was on the hunt for some new Christmas decor that would match my new style. Now I don't know if it was the great selection that Gordmans had to offer, or if I just have a knack for putting it all together, but I love the way this Christmas vignette turned out! The best part though, it was totally affordable! Every single item was priced between $12.99 - $14.99!

The box in back is actually meant to be a wall hanging. Since I loved the colors and the style, and it was sturdy enough to stand on its own, I was able to just set it on the console table. And the rustic looking tree next to it was just so fitting since the tree sparkles with "snow". The reindeer are gorgeous! These pictures do not do these reindeer justice whatsoever. They look like they would cost $30+ each but I only paid $12.99 for the one laying down and $14.99 for the one standing up.

I wasn't sure if the jingle bell tree would go with this vignette, but since I love jingle bells, I gave it a shot. I'm really happy I purchased the jingle bell tree because it goes really well with the frosted tip pine cones, plus I wanted something a bit darker since everything else is so light.

A bag of frosted tip pine cones was only $4.99. Compare that to $10 elsewhere. And the bag had over a dozen pine cones. I love the contrast of the shiny and dull.

Gordmans is known for taking higher priced products sold at other stores and creating a similar product that is more affordable! Plus, don't forget they are always offering coupons for additional discounts.

The minute I saw this Santa (there were so many to choose from!), I knew I had to have him because he reminds me of the Santa (played by Tom Hanks) from The Polar Express. And as some of you may remember, The Polar Express is my favorite Christmas movie!

I know it may seem a little strange to have Christmas decor up before Thanksgiving, but aside from the Santa, I think the rest of it can just be considered "winter decor". Yeah, that's what I'm going to go with because I definitely do not want to take it down. It's way too gorgeous! I can't wait to see it with the blinds open when there is snow falling from the sky!

If you are on the hunt for holiday home decor, be sure to stop at Gordmans. They have so much to offer at such AWESOME prices! PLUS, if you shop Gordmans on Black Friday, their entire stock of holiday home decor will be 33% off!

Fall Decorating with Gordmans! (Plus Enter to Win a $25 Gordmans Gift Card!)

Fall Decorating with Gordmans

Come the first day of September, I already have fall decorating on my mind. It's no wonder since so many stores have their latest fall decor on the shelves starting in June or earlier! Since fall is my favorite season, it doesn't bother me too much and I don't mind being rushed into the season. To save money on fall decor, I stick with pieces that will work both during Halloween and Thanksgiving. Just changing up one or two pieces helps keep the decor cost down and gets you a little more bang for your buck. One of my favorite places to shop for home decor is Gordmans

Not only does Gordmans offer a great selection of affordable home decor that you can't find anywhere else, they also have coupons! AND, you can sign up for gRewards where you will earn points for every dollar spent. Once you reach 200 points, you will receive a $10 reward! For more information on gRewards, go here

Since I had chalk painted the furniture pieces in the living room this past winter, I knew that I needed a few new fall decorations for my seasonal decor area. I keep the area very monotone so when it's time to add seasonal decor, the decor pops.

Fall Decorating with Gordmans
With just a few fall pieces, the area is now transformed for the fall season!

Gordmans has a great selection of themed decor for any style home. I easily found pieces that coordinated with my existing rustic cottage style living room.

I like the look of a wreath over a mirror and this one was priced right at only $21.99. I also had a coupon for 15% off any one item so a great looking wreath like that for under $20 is a super good deal!

For those wondering how that wreath is hanging on the mirror, check out my post on How to Hang a Wreath on a Mirror.

Once Halloween is over and it's time to make the switch to Thanksgiving, all I have to do is change out one piece on the shelf! Everything else can stay!

Fall Decorating with Gordmans
If you haven't been to Gordmans lately, you're missing out! Their home decor department is huge and has the most trendy pieces at affordable prices. Like I mentioned above, they also have coupons! You just can't go wrong!

When you do visit Gordmans to check out their gorgeous home decor, be sure to look for their clearance aisle. I've often found goodies that made it into my cart!

No Place For Hate ADL GordmansI also encourage you all to visit Gordmans by the end of the month and donate just $1 for a "Helping Hand" to support the No Place for Hate campaign.

For the second consecutive year, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and apparel and home décor retailer Gordmans are teaming up to promote ADL’s No Place for Hate® initiative. The goal is to help eradicate hatred, prejudice and bullying as students and teachers prepare to head back to school this fall. Research shows that 28 percent of students ages 12 to 18 years old report being bullied at school, and 24 percent in the same age group report being cyberbullied.

Throughout the month of August, Gordmans, which operates 97 stores in 20 states, will join ADL in a call to action encouraging individuals to take a stand against bullying and prejudice in schools and communities. Guests at Gordmans stores are invited to purchase “Helping Hands” for $1 each or more in support of the initiative. Every dollar raised will directly benefit ADL’s No Place for Hate® initiative and other anti-bullying programs.

DIY Outdoor Lighted Holiday Gift Boxes

With a front porch that is over 200 sq ft, finding outdoor Christmas decorations to fill it up is nearly impossible on a budget. They are either way overpriced or so small that it would take many, many items to fill up the space. I've always loved the lighted holiday gift boxes found at stores like Menards and Home Depot but not only are they way too small, they cost nearly $40 for 3 teeny tiny boxes. Instead of purchasing overpriced cookie cutter outdoor holiday gift boxes for our front porch, my handsome handy husband and I built them.

We created the frame of the boxes out of 1x4's and spray painted the wood so it wouldn't show through as much. We then wrapped each frame with twinkle lights and stapled the cords to the wood so they wouldn't move around.

I found the decorative mesh ribbon at Sam's Club but I'm sure something similar can be found at most of the craft stores.

The boxes are on the heavier side which is good for our Midwest winters. The smaller boxes made of wire available at the stores would probably disappear in our first snow storm. I like my neighbors, but not enough to share my holiday porch decorations with them.

This DIY project only requires cut pieces of 1x4 wood, a hammer and nail to nail them together, and a staple gun to staple the twinkle lights and mesh ribbon on to the wood. Super easy and super affordable! Just make sure you have a place to store them (depending on how large you make them)! :)

Sorry about the yucky picture!
