Homemade Orange Soda Recipe

Homemade Orange Soda Recipe

Unless we are having a birthday party, soda is not usually welcome in our house. And that ends up being a waste of money because only one person will have a glass and the rest will end up going flat and eventually down the drain. I guess that's not really a problem when you think of it. Most of us rather our family not drink the artificial beverage.

I had my first ever IZZE Sparkling Juice drink recently and I was immediately in love. When I read the back of the bottle I was shocked to see that there were only a few ingredients. Among those ingredients were fruit juice concentrates and and sparkling water. Now IZZE Sparkling Juice can be expensive, so I decided to try out my own version.

Homemade Orange Soda Recipe

I decided to go with a mixture of sparkling white grape juice, sparkling cider, and orange juice concentrate. Holy cats did I impress myself. It was so good! The only thing that could have made it a bit better would be to add some champagne. But this is not all about me right? I can't tell the kids I made homemade orange soda and then not let them have any because I had to spike it with champagne. Or can I? *insert maniacal laugh*

Homemade Orange Soda Recipe

  • 1 can pulp free orange juice
  • 3/4 cup sparkling white grape juice
  • 3/4 cup sparkling cider
  • sliced orange
  • 8 cups water

Mix everything in your pitcher and serve over ice. It's that simple. No need to add sugar because it's sweet enough. You may have to adjust the amount of the sparkling juice used because everyone's taste buds are different. Now for some people, this may taste nothing like the orange soda you buy in stores. Well, good. It's not really supposed to. That stuff is disgusting and the only orange thing about it is the color.

Why did I call this recipe homemade orange soda then? Because of the sparkling part. I don't like sparkling water much. I actually think it's pretty gross. Sparkling juices on the other hand are delish. And anything fizzy to me I consider a soda. Therefore, I call this recipe homemade orange soda.

Thank you SO MUCH for posting this! I have been searching for alternatives for the high fructose orange sodas that my stepson adores. Sometimes it's so simple if you just get creative. I just started freezing apple juice pops instead of buying premade popsicles and he likes them better! It's just frozen apple juice so I'm hoping this will be just as much of a hit as those were! I found you from the LWSP linkup. P.S. I'm also residing in Wisconsin, it's a GREAT place to live :)
